Pescara have admitted that they are in talks with Juventus over Marco Verratti, but his future will only be decided at the end of the Serie B season.
The Italian Under-21 international is being heralded as the heir to Andrea Pirlo and the 19-year-old was surprisingly included in the 32-man Italy squad on Sunday.
Juventus have been linked for some time and Pescara sporting director Daniele Delli Carri has confirmed contact.
“There is a negotiation taking place with Juventus for Verratti,” the official told Sky Sport Italia. “However, right now, we at Pescara are concentrating on other things.
“We’re hoping to be promoted to Serie A and a key player like Verratti needs to be freed from transfer gossip.
“He’s certainly an important player for us and we can’t think about just giving away a midfielder like that.”
Verratti has admitted that he’d like a move to Juventus, but Pescara’s asking price may be a problem. Some reports are suggesting that they value the teenager at €8m.
Pescara are currently top of the Serie B standings with three games left to play this season.
