Italy international Federico Chiesa certainly made an impact in his first Liverpool start with an acrobatic assist for Diogo Jota against West Ham United.

After two substitute appearances against Milan in the Champions League and Bournemouth in the Premier League, the 26-year-old was given his first run-out in the starting XI by Arne Slot.

He made the most of it and got fans talking excitedly with his spectacular assist for Cody Gakpo’s header in the Carabao Cup.

It was intended to be a shot on goal, as Chiesa soared into the sky to volley the Diogo Jota cross into the ground, but Gakpo made sure with a header at the back post.

Along with that, the Italiano also got Liverpool fans excited with some cheeky nutmegs and bits of skill.

“Now that’s what Liverpool fans want to see from Federico Chiesa, little bit of flair, trying something different,” said commentator Conor McNamara on BBC Radio 5 Live.
