Galatasaray have confirmed the exact figures that allowed Atalanta to sign Italy international Nicolò Zaniolo for a total €21.9m plus €2m in potential bonuses.

The player underwent his medical yesterday and put pen to paper on the contract today.

There were reports that the loan was for €3.5m with an option to buy for a further €16m plus €2m in add-ons, while under certain conditions the option will become an obligation.

A statement on the official Galatasaray website has the formal figures and they are slightly different.

In this case, Atalanta are paying €6.4m for the one-season loan of Zaniolo, with the option to buy for a further €15.5m plus bonuses of up to €2m.

Zaniolo continues his journey

Zaniolo just returned from a similar agreement with Aston Villa, but the Premier League side did not activate the option to buy him outright.

In that situation, the figures were substantially different, as Aston Villa paid €5m for the loan, plus performance-related bonuses of up to €1.375m.

The obligation to buy was worth €22.5m plus a further €15.5m in add-ons, taking the total cost to a potential €44.375m.
