Malick Thiaw received a yellow card in Sunday’s Serie A game against Sassuolo so he’ll be suspended against Inter next week.

German centre-back Thiaw will miss the derby della Madonnina on April 22 after receiving a yellow card in Milan‘s away 3-3 draw against Sassuolo on Sunday.

The 22-year-old was booked for a foul on Andrea Pinamonti in the second half so he won’t be eligible when the Rossoneri face their city rivals at San Siro in eight days.

Thiaw also appeared to have suffered an injury in the final minutes, so it remains to be seen if he’ll be available against Roma in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final this coming Thursday.

The German defender was limping badly but he remained on the pitch as Stefano Pioli had already made five substitutions.

Thiaw has made 25 appearances across all competitions this season and missed two and a half months of action between November 2023 and February 2024 due to a hamstring muscle injury.
