Since March 6, Gianluca Scamacca has scored 10 goals across all competitions, and only Cole Palmer and Harry Kane have managed more in the same period.

Italy international Scamacca is among the most prolific players in Europe over the last two months. As reported by Sky Sport Italia, the Italian forward has netted 10 goals across all competitions since March 6, including a brace against Liverpool at Anfield in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals.

Italy coach Luciano Spalletti did not call up Scamacca for international friendlies against Venezuela and Ecuador in March, probably for disciplinary reasons. Reports in Italy claim Spalletti was unhappy that Scamacca had spent a night awake playing PlayStation in November 2023 before a key Euro 2024 qualifying fixture against Ukraine. However, neither the coach nor the striker has confirmed this yet.

Italy snub revived Scamacca?

After Italy’s latest games, Scamacca has scored eight goals in eight appearances across all competitions with Atalanta, while his record since March 6 is 10 goals in 12 appearances, only fewer than Chelsea’s Palmer and Bayern Munich’s Kane in the same period.

Since his debut in September 2021 under Roberto Mancini, Scamacca has scored just one goal in 15 appearances with the Azzurri.

  1. Nope. It was Gasperini publicly shaming him for not working hard enough. He has upped his game since.
