Capocannoniere and Scudetto-winning Inter captain Lautaro Martinez has been named overall Serie A MVP for the 2023-24 season.

In a curious approach to the awards, Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus was named MVP Striker of the Season, but Lautaro Martinez pipped him to the overall top trophy.

These are not voted for, but calculated using the Stats Perform analysis and taking into account movement off the ball as well as the more traditional parameters like goals and assists.

Not only did Lautaro Martinez take Inter to the title as captain, he is also Capocannoniere, going into the final round with 24 goals.

Triumph for Lautaro Martinez

“Lautaro Martinez’s season has been extraordinary in terms of performance and leadership,” said Lega Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo.

“The Inter forward represented, with his charisma and moves, the perfect captain of a well-put-together group that deservedly won the Scudetto.

“In his third consecutive season with over 20 goals in Serie A, the Argentine World Cup winner is now an absolute Top Player, a treasure for Inter and of our league, able to aways be decisive in the crucial moments of the campaign.”

All the Most Valuable Player winners will be given their awards ahead of kick-off in the final round of the 2023-24 Serie A season this weekend.

The others are Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni, Nerazzurri midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, Juventus forward Vlahovic and Under-23 winner Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna.
