Reports in Turkey and India claim Kerala Blasters decided against signing Mario Balotelli as a free agent for disciplinary reasons.

Italian striker Balotelli is currently without a club after his contract with Adana Demirspor expired in June 2024.

A former Inter, Milan, Liverpool and Manchester City striker, Balotelli reportedly had a chance to join Kerala Blasters as a free agent, but Fanatik and Times of India claim that the Indian side ultimately decided against signing the 34-year-old for disciplinary reasons.

Reports Indian club snubbed Balotelli for disciplinary reasons

According to Fanatik, Balotelli had been offered to Kerala Blasters, but club directors informed the player’s representatives that his previous off-the-field issues would prevent him from joining the club.

This past March, the Italian forward pranked his Adana Demirspor teammates by throwing a firecracker down the dressing room.

Times of India journalist Marcus Mergulhao adds that Kerala Blasters also didn’t see Balotelli as a ‘realistic target’ and decided against continuing talks with his entourage.

Balotelli scored 52 goals in 141 Serie A games with Inter, Milan and Brescia.
