The Viola have been under fire by their tifosi, who hung a banner at the Stadio Artemio Franchi criticising the club's 'beggar's transfers'.

“I don't understand why people are super-critical about what we do,” Prade told the Press, on the occasion of Joan Verdu's presentation.

“The club already proved their value. Over the last years the Della Valle family spent more than €320m.

“This is a strong, competitive team and we're a club that plans ahead.

“We are a club that started a healthy program based on financial fair play.

“We want to plan everything ahead and I think the seasons we lived have been exciting. We always did better than many big teams.

“I see a skepticism that is too great compared to what we have built.

“The failed sale of [Mario] Gomez blocked some of our options but the managers who are here have always worked to the best of their ability.

“The transfer market at €0? That's not the case. Our journey with [Stefan] Savic was over and we signed players who were functional to our logic.

“[Facundo] Roncaglia, [Matias] Vecino and [Ante] Rebic for us are reinforcements, much like [Federico] Bernardeschi, [Khouma] Babacar and [Giuseppe] Rossi, who didn't have enough time on the pitch last year.”
