Chievo have officially confirmed the signing of former Juventus winger Simone Pepe on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old was released by the Bianconeri at the end of last season, having made just 15 Serie A appearances over the past three years, with just one start.

The Italian international had been struggling with a series of muscular injuries, but made 11 substitute appearances last term, and will now look to revive his career in Verona.

“Chievo Verona officially announces the signature of Simone Pepe,” a statement on the Flying Donkeys’ website read.

“The midfielder, born in Albano 30 August 1983, has spent the last five seasons with Juventus.”

Pepe, who has won 23 Azzurri caps, will wear the number 7 shirt for his new team.
