“Yesterday I watched their game and really liked the team,” he said of the 2-0 Coppa Italia victory over Roma.

Salah is on Fiorentina’s UEFA squad list and reveals he has a good history with their next opponents Spurs.

“I played against Tottenham two times in the Europa League with Basel. They were very good games for me and I scored against Tottenham, my first goal, so that was an important moment for me and for Basel.

“I also put in five assists in that competition and am fired up for this chance.”

Salah is not the first Egyptian to play for Fiorentina, as Ahmed Hegazy left during the January transfer window.

“He advised me to come here and play more often. He also told me there are great players who are very nice and this experience will help my professional growth.

“I play right wing, but also left-wing and sometimes as a striker.”
