“There is a big gap between us and Roma are without doubt a stronger team than Genoa, there’s no point denying it,” said Gasp in his Press conference.

“However, I am certain of one thing: the best don’t always win in football. This is why tomorrow I want to see a Genoa side ready for battle.

“We mustn’t look at the table, but I also won’t deny it’s nice to be so far up there. Our strength is that we are the same side as a few weeks go, regardless of the recent results.”

Having already beaten Juventus this season, will Genoa do the same to Roma and ‘decide’ the Scudetto?

“It’s not up to us to be the referees for the title race or anything else. We think only and exclusively about our own path. Tomorrow we’ll step on to the field looking to stop Roma and improve our already excellent position.

“This team continues to surprise me. Week after week, we play better football. I heard many talk about a top 10 of our best games and that makes us proud.”

The city of Genoa has overtaken Milan as the hub of successful teams, as the Grifone are third and Sampdoria fourth.

“Historically we have always been behind Samp, but now we are ahead and we’ll do everything to stay there.”
