Riccardo Ferri believes Walter Mazzarri had “lost respect” of Inter players, but Roberto Mancini will have problems too.

The club sacked Mazzarri on Friday and brought in ex-Galatasaray and Manchester City boss Mancini, whose debut will be the Milan Derby next Sunday.

“It is always difficult to inherit a team mid-season,” former Inter captain Ferri told Mediaset Premium.

“Undoubtedly Mancini, who is a great Coach, will also have some problems to deal with. Right now the important thing is to bring in that motivation that was lacking.

“Mazzarri had lost respect of the players; you could see it when they stepped on to the field.”

It is return for Mancini, who was already on the Nerazzurri bench from 2004 to 2008.

“He has great technical capabilities and already knows the environment. He knows what the Inter public wants, he knows the Italian media.

“The choice to bring in Mancini was very positive, but it also requires quality investments in January and beyond. Inter still seem to be a work in progress.”

Ferri grew up in the Inter youth academy and went on to become captain, notching up 418 official appearances from 1981 to 1984, including 290 in Serie A and 62 in Europe.
