Jeremy Menez says that Milan have the right squad to finish third in Serie A as he reflects on recent injury and form.

The Rossoneri followed up their 1-1 draw against Fiorentina at the weekend with the same result in Sardinia against Cagliari, dropping four points in the process.

However,  currently sat level on points with Lazio in the third and final Champions League qualification spot, Menez thinks that nothing is lost.

“It would be a shame not to qualify for the Champions League, given the squad we’ve got,” the 27-year-old has told media during an event in the city intended to promote the 2015 Expo.

“I don’t know whether we can challenge to win the League, but this League has been strange so far – Juventus and Roma are the strongest, but there’s no truth in football so we’ll fight until the end and then we’ll see.

“All I can say is that at Milanello it’s all smiles, we are a great group and we live well within the dressing room.

“Inzaghi has been able to transmit the right spirit and if we all row in the same direction, I am sure we can do it.”

The Frenchman had immediately hit form at the start of this term before some muscular problems have held him back in the last few games.

“Physically, I’ve lost a bit of shape, but I am working hard, trying to recover as fast as I can in order to help my Coach and my team.

“It’s not a psychological matter but only a physical one because when you don’t really play for 15 days, as it has happened to me during the international break, it’s a lot of time.

“The fact of sitting on the bench in Cagliari was fair enough because I wasn’t fit enough and, considering that we play every three days, you can rest.”

On Sunday night, Milan host Palermo, a side they are unbeaten against in the last four games in the top flight.

“We can still boast the best attack in the League and we are also unbeaten away.

“We know that we must score more goals, and we hope to do it against Palermo on Sunday night.

“We are fourth in the table and we are confident that we can do well in this game. Generally speaking, we are aware that we can do better, me included of course.

“Recently, President Silvio Berlusconi has asked me to shoot more on goal.”

After bursting to the scene in Serie A and making an immediate impact, Menez says that he hasn’t changed his targets.

“I came here on a free transfer, I don’t know whether that matters or not, but ultimately it’s better for Milan.

“I came here exactly to work and be recalled with the national team. Then it’s up to Laurent Blanc. I shouldn’t give up – we’ll see for the future.”

It has been rumoured that, before the Frenchman joined Milan in the summer, Pippo Inzaghi called Carlo Ancelotti in order to get some advice about the player.

“Before I joined, Inzaghi asked about myself to many people and he knew where I could play – I can play everywhere although I prefer to play in the middle.

“But there’s many of us up front so we have to respect his choices.

“Ancelotti and Inzaghi are friends, and they have been knowing each other for a while now. I don’t know whether they give advice on tactics to each other, but Ancelotti’s advice is always good.

“Me, I think I can play with Fernando Torres – in Paris I used to play with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“But you also have to take into account the team’s balance and the Coach’s choices.”
