Initially handed a return date of December, recent indications were that an early November return was possible.

The Gazzetta dello Sport report today that whilst he is still in line for a comeback next month, it may come at least a few weeks later than recently hoped.

This is believed to be because results from tests carried out this week highlighted that the bone in the leg had not yet 100 per cent healed and that before anything else can be done, the player must wait another three weeks for follow-up tests to ensure everything is in place.

It is a situation that the Gazzetta report have Milan targeting a late November return now for Montolivo, perhaps putting him in line to make Week 12’s derby with Inter on November 23.
