Giampiero Ventura admits Torino’s “numbers are clearly not good” after a 1-0 defeat to Verona.

The Granata have failed to score in any of the three rounds this season, something that hadn’t happened since 1957-58.

“Either we analyse the game or the general situation. Verona won the match with one shot in the second half against the run of play and we missed a penalty, again,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“These are three rounds in which we earned less than we deserved against Inter and Verona, while with Sampdoria” data-scaytid=”4″>Sampdoria last week we were decidedly below par.

“We played with intensity and conceded the goal on a one-off incident. We have to just push through these moments.

“Every season we start from scratch amid a million problems. There is the ‘drama’ that Cerci and Immobile aren’t here, but at this time last season people didn’t consider them to be all that valuable.

“We have become accustomed to making our way through these situations. Clearly the numbers are not good this season, that is beyond doubt. Objectively the result is a bit much considering the performances this evening.

“At the moment the penalties and balls along the line don’t go in, but the day will come when we bundle it over the line almost by accident.

“I honestly do not understand why after three rounds a player with the Torino jersey should be jeered when he comes on to the field. I don’t get that,” said Ventura, referring to the crowd’s reaction to Marcelo Larrondo.

“It is certainly not going to help him or the team to react that way. I was also angry with the reporters who said I’d shown a lack of respect to the fans by fielding certain players in the Europa League, players the club has invested in.”

Cerci was sold to Atletico Madrid and replaced by Amauri on transfer deadline day, so could Torino not have found a more suitable option?

“I am the Coach and will not get involved in these matters. What I was told was that until the last day Cerci had not agreed a move anywhere and left at the last minute. If he had left a week earlier, we would’ve had more time to find a replacement.”
