Roma won their Austrian friendly 4-1 against Wiener Sportklub with Juan Iturbe’s first Giallorossi goal.

Rudi Garcia’s men concluded their Austrian pre-season training camp with a comfortable victory and the return of Morgan De Sanctis after elbow surgery in May.

Mattia Destro, at the centre of a possible transfer to Tottenham, was in the stands officially due to stomach problems.

De Sanctis immediately had to prove his form with a one-handed save on Yunes de Leon after Adem Ljajic was caught in possession. The Serbian made up for his error moments later by winning back the ball in midfield to set up Gervinho’s goal.

Gervinho thought he had a second, but his angled drive thumped the upright on an Iturbe assist.

Miralem Pjanic wore the captain’s armband and marked the occasion with a well-taken goal, a fierce right-foot strike into the top corner.

Gunes got one back for Wiener, but Iturbe was brought down and converted the penalty himself – the ex-Verona man’s first goal in a Roma jersey.

Ljajic completed the rout in the final minute by going round the goalkeeper.

Roma: De Sanctis (Skorupski 46); Torosidis, Somma (Capradossi 84), Astori, Emanuelson; Pjanic, Nainggolan; Iturbe, Gervinho (Paredes 74), Ljajic; Borriello (Sanabria 74)
