Verona striker Luca Toni says he wants to go down in the club’s history after playing a major part in the the Gialloblu’s successful season.

The 36-year-old also hopes the goals he has scored this season will help persuade national team Coach Cesare Prandelli to name him in his World Cup squad.

“I’m very happy in Verona,” Toni said to L’Equipe. “My intention now is to go down in the history of the club for the most number of goals scored in Serie A.

“But it is not an obsession for me. Just to be safe though, I haven’t booked any holidays yet!”
