Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini has explained his decision to sack Alberto Malesani 19 days after his appointment.
Malesani was hired at the start of this month after Gian Piero Gasperini was axed. However, after three draws from three games, Gasperini has now been recalled.
“I’ve received a lot of phone calls from fans and people in the game who made me aware that Palermo played better under Gasperini,” the President told Tuttosport.
“I re-watched three matches with Gasperini in charge and three matches with Malesani – I then made a decision.”
Gasperini himself was only hired after Giuseppe Sannino was sacked after the Week 3 draw against Cagliari.
The Rosanero are bottom of the table after collecting just 20 points from 26 games. They are presently six points shy of survival.
