President Claudio Lotito says he knew Vladimir Petkovic was the ideal Coach for Italian Cup finalists Lazio.
The capital club booked their place in the Coppa Italia finale with a dramatic 2-1 win over Juventus in Rome last night.
“I was certain that Petkovic was the right man for the job,” Lotito said of the boss who replaced Edy Reja in the summer.
“A good relationship has developed between us, one based on the respect of our roles and our characters.
“He mirrors the philosophy of this squad.”
The Biancocelesti will now play Inter or Roma in May’s Stadio Olimpico showdown after defeating the Italian champions.
“We’re satisfied with the performance of a squad which battled to get to the Final,” he added. “The game could have ended badly, but it didn’t.
“We’re happy that the team, supported by the fans, showed all of its quality. However, we haven’t won anything yet.”
