The agent of Juventus’ Emanuele Giaccherini thinks the one-match ban handed to Torino’s Kamil Glik is a joke.
The defender was given a 90-minute stop after his red card in the derby last weekend for his wild challenge on the Italian midfielder.
“It’s a good job that he didn’t catch Giaccherini fully,” Furio Valcareggi told Firenze Viola. “Otherwise it would have ended his career.
“The tackle would have broken his knee, a bit like what happened to Gigi Casiraghi.
“The fact that Glik only got a one-match ban is ridiculous – he should have been given an eight-match suspension.
“You have to take into consideration that there was violence, the damage he did, the damage he could have done and the premeditation.
“A one-game ban doesn’t deter that type of foul, one carried out in the middle of the pitch for an irrelevant ball. It’s a ridiculous sentence.”
