Gasp: 'Not my Palermo yet'

Gian Piero Gasperini sees progress in Palermo since taking over, although “it is not ‘my’ team yet.”

The Coach was drafted in when Giuseppe Sannino was sacked after just three Serie A games in charge.

“I am very satisfied with the squad, although it is not ‘my’ team yet,” Gasp said in today’s Press conference.

“The lads worked hard from the first moment and always gave their all. At first the results did not go our way, but we have a style of football and know what to do both with the ball and without it.

“I always maintain the individuals do not count as much as the overall performance. We have overcome a very important obstacle – the scepticism of our fans.

“Now we must continue working together so that we can finish games off earlier and not run so many risks.”

Abel Hernandez is waiting on the test results after picking up a knee injury while on international duty, as it could be a sprain or potentially ligament damage.

“We hope Hernandez’s injury isn’t too bad and the news filtering through at the moment is a little more comforting,” continued Gasperini.

“Paulo Dybala is a talent who could’ve played in all the games so far. He will have his space in the side, regardless of Hernandez’s injury.”
