Udinese claw back Chievo draw

Francesco Guidolin said Udinese were “unwatchable” in their 2-2 draw with Chievo, as preparations continue for the Champions League.

The Friulani are to play Sporting Braga in the play-offs on August 21 and 28, but pre-season friendlies have been shaky.

This evening they were held to a 2-2 draw by Chievo, fighting back twice from a goal down as Maurizio Domizzi wiped out a Luciano opener, then Marco Davide Faraoni caught up Cyril Thereau.

“In the first half we were unwatchable with little pace and few ideas,” blasted Guidolin.

“We did better after the break. A week from the preliminary round, we have to hope there are no further slip-ups, but in terms of fitness we’re on track.

“Some games are necessary precisely for this, but you risk disappointing results, as we were about to do today.

“In the locker room we looked each other in the eye and the team found what it had to do.”
