Zaniolo seeking revenge against Inter, Dzeko booed by Roma fans?

Nicolò Zaniolo and Edin Dzeko will face their former clubs in Roma vs. Inter today and according to reports in Italy, the striker must expect a hostile welcome at the Stadio Olimpico.

Dzeko spent six seasons in the capital, scoring 119 goals in 260 games. He joined Inter in a free transfer over the summer and is the best scorer at the Stadio Meazza with ten goals in 20 games.

However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Corriere dello Sport, Roma fans didn’t take well his decision to leave the Stadio Olimpico.

The club had promised the Bosnian striker to let him leave on a free transfer and the 35-year-old insisted on leaving the club at the end of 2020-21.

Has Mourinho’s career gone downhill after Inter exit?

Roma signed Tammy Abraham from Chelsea to replace him, but the English striker has only scored four goals in Serie A so far.

Nicolò Zaniolo will also face his former club. The Italian midfielder played in Inter’s academy in 2017-18, but failed to make his senior debut with the Serie A giants.

Inter included him in a player-plus-cash swap deal to sign Radja Nainggolan in 2018 and, only a few months later, he made his senior debut in a Champions League group stage game against Real Madrid under Eusebio Di Francesco.

Probable line-ups: Roma vs. Inter

Zaniolo has become one of Italy’s most promising midfielders and Roberto Mancini gave him his senior Azzurri debut in March 2019.

Zaniolo has scored two goals in eight appearances with Italy but hasn’t yet scored in Serie A this season.

However, the 22-year-old has netted twice in five Conference League games.
