Tottenham push Juventus for Roma star Zaniolo

With Juventus looking elsewhere, Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are said to be back in talks for Roma starlet Nicolò Zaniolo.

His future with the Giallorossi remains shrouded in doubt with reports all summer suggesting his agent is seeking a move away, while Roma are not going to stand in his way if an offer comes in at over €50m.

Juve had been the favourites, ahead of Milan, but appear to have turned their focus to other targets.

Over the last couple of days, rumours have increased in Italy that Tottenham are stepping up their pursuit of the 23-year-old Italy international.

Zaniolo can play in several different roles, on the right wing, as a support striker or a trequartista behind the forward.

His career has been stalled by two serious anterior cruciate ligament injuries, but he was able to play more consistently last season and scored the decisive goal in the Europa Conference League Final.

Zaniolo seems eager to remain in Italy for the moment and it is entirely possible he will stick with Roma and try to renegotiate the contract that expires in June 2024 rather than take a leap elsewhere.
