‘Three points against Roma’

Milan ‘keeper Diego Lopez says the match against Roma will be an ‘opportunity to grow’, as he anticipates ‘a spectacular game’.

The Rossoneri take on the Giarllossi this Saturday in the wake of a positive 2-0 result against Napoli, but with their Spanish goalkeeper aware of the challenge ahead.

“In the last three games we only conceded one goal,” Lopez has begun in conversation today with Tuttosport.

“We must improve a lot, but the defensive phase requires important work done by the whole team.

“Against Napoli we allowed for a few chances, but there are also some positive aspects to confirm.

“On Saturday it's going to be a spectacular game. For us it's going to be a great opportunity to keep going in our development.

“After beating Napoli, we'll have to go to the Olimpico aiming for three points.

“It won't be easy, but we'll give it a shot, even though we're facing a team that will fight for the Scudetto against Juventus until the end.

“[Roma captain Francesco] Totti is a great star of Italian football, but Roma isn't just Totti, they have a lot of champions in the attack and it will be hard to hold them back.”

Milan captain Riccardo Montolivo declared that he thinks the third place is an achievable target, and Lopez echoes this sentiment.

“I believe we can. But it's going to be tough. There are a lot of teams that are aiming for the Champions League.

“Napoli are perhaps still the most qualified rival. But Inter and Fiorentina are coming back, the teams from Genoa [Sampdoria and Genoa] and Lazio are also playing very well.”

Finally, Lopez was asked for a comparison between his Coach Filippo Inzaghi at Milan and Real Madrid Coach Carlo Ancelotti.

“It's hard and premature to compare them. Ancelotti has been coaching for 20 years, he won many things all over Europe, while Inzaghi has only just got started.

“Besides, training this Real Madrid team and Milan are two very different things.”
