Sneijder: ‘Inter can catch Milan’

Wesley Sneijder thinks that if Inter beat Juventus and Fiorentina over the next week they can finally catch Milan at the top of the table.

Sunday's thrilling 5-3 victory at home to Roma allowed Leonardo's side to close the gap with their rivals to just five points.

Speaking while on international duty with Holland, Sneijder said: "It's great to be back playing again. Obviously I am not in peak condition after 50 days out.

Sunday's thrilling 5-3 victory at home to Roma allowed Leonardo's side to close the gap with their rivals to just five points.

Speaking while on international duty with Holland, Sneijder said: "It's great to be back playing again. Obviously I am not in peak condition after 50 days out.

"I have to rediscover my match rhythm, but the goals against Bari and Roma have given me great motivation. The gap with Milan is closer.

"If we win against Juve and Fiorentina, we can really win the Scudetto."

Reflecting on Holland's friendly with Austria in Eindhoven, he said: "I'd like to play the entire game because I also care a lot about this shirt.

"But I will speak with the Coach and perhaps do only 45 or 60 minutes. After all, I've only just come back. But the more I play and the sooner I get back in shape, the better it is for Inter because I feel that we can confirm ourselves as champions again even at the end of this season."
