Season over for Chiesa as Juventus confirm serious knee injury

Juventus confirm their star Federico Chiesa suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Roma and will undergo surgery in the coming days.

The 24-year-old underwent medical examinations at the J Medical this morning and Juventus have now confirmed the extent of his injury.

“Exams underwent at the J Medical confirmed an anterior cruciate ligament tear,” Juventus statement reads.

“It will be necessary to intervene with surgery in the coming days.”

This morning, the Italy international arrived at Juventus’ private clinic, accompanied by his father and former Serie A striker Enrico.

Sky Sport Italia reports Chiesa’s season is over so the player will return to action in 2022-23 also missing Italy’s World Cup play-offs in March.

Chiesa has two goals and three assists in 14 Serie A appearances this season.

He had joined Juventus from Fiorentina in 2020 on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Juventus will pay up to €60m, including add-ons, to secure his services.
