‘Cristiano Ronaldo did the impossible to leave Juventus’ and join Man Utd

Today’s edition of Il Corriere Dello Sport analyses Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation at Manchester United, highlighting that the Portuguese ace ‘did the impossible’ to leave Juventus and return to Old Trafford last year.

Ronaldo is not expected to play for Manchester United again. According to several reports in the UK, the Premier League side are considering sacking their ace as they believe CR7 breached the terms of his contract with his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United in 2021 from Juventus.

He had scored 101 goals in 134 appearances in Turin, winning two Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia and one Italian Supercup.

He left Turin just a few days before the end of the summer transfer window in 2021, snubbing an offer from Manchester City to return to Old Trafford.

“Ronaldo always leaves when unhappy. He left Real Madrid for Juventus when Florentino did not grant him the same economical treatment as Leo Messi at Barcelona,” wrote Il Corriere Dello Sport’s editor Ivan Zazzaroni in today’s edition of the paper.

“At the beginning of his fourth season in Turin, he was convinced the club could no longer compete for the [victory of] Champions League and grant a fair amount of goals and millions. He did the impossible to leave, stressing Jorge Mendes, with whom the rapport got a bit colder.

“It was not United to sack Ronaldo, it was the other way around. Ronaldo used the word ‘betrayal’, talking s*** of the club’s training facilities, the organisation and the club’s dynamics and the club reacted as the star expected.”

Both Roma and Napoli are being linked with welcoming his services in the winter transfer window, and seeing Ronaldo available as a free agent in January would make any potential deal easier for Serie A clubs.
