Pagliuca ‘can’t believe’ Donnarumma snub at PSG

Former Italy goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca can’t believe Gigio Donnarumma is not a regular starter at PSG: ‘Keylor Navas, is not fit to lace his boots.’

Donnarumma, 22, left Milan at the end of his contract in June, joining the Ligue 1 giants as a free agent.

However, the Italy Euro 2020 hero is not a regular starter in Paris as he’s only played one game so far.

Former goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca questioned Mauricio Pochettino’s choices in an interview with Il Giornale.

“I don’t understand. Perhaps you have the best goalkeeper in the world and you leave him on the bench? Navas is a good goalkeeper, but with all due respect, he’s not fit to lace Donnarumma’s boots,” the 54-year-old said, as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb.

“I think he [Donnarumma] will be a regular starter from next season.”

Pagliuca also commented on Wojciech Szczesny tough start to the season for Juventus.

“Criticisms towards Szczesny are too much. Juventus are not as solid as they used to be,” Pagliuca said.

“Don’t forget Gigi Buffon was relegated to the bench because of him. He made two mistakes, that’s true, but Juventus’ problems do not lie in goal.”

Raiola reveals why Donnarumma left Milan

Donnarumma was in talks with Juventus over the summer, but the Old Lady opted to keep hold of Szczesny, so Donnarumma signed with PSG.

Juventus director Federico Cherubini has explained that the Bianconeri didn’t want to have two top goalkeepers in the team, so they decided against signing the former Milan star.

Raiola has recently warned Juventus that they will regret not signing his client, adding that Donnarumma will surely become a regular starter at PSG.
