Inter confirm Romelu Lukaku will miss the Milan derby on Saturday due to a thigh injury and will be assessed again next week.
The Chelsea loanee played Inter’s opening three Serie A games, but has already been forced to the sidelines due to a thigh injury suffered on Sunday. The 28-year-old underwent medical examinations today at Rozzano’s Humanitas clinic.
Inter announced in an official statement that exams highlighted an injury to the flexor of his left thigh. “His condition will be assessed again next week,” said the Nerazzurri.
The Nerazzurri host Cremonese at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza tomorrow before facing Milan at San Siro on Saturday.
The Belgian forward appears likely to miss out on Inter’s opening Champions League clash against Bayern Munich next week.
Simone Inzaghi hopes Lukaku will return to action before the first game after the break against Roma on October 4, but will know more about it next week, when Lukaku will undergo a new medical check.
Edin Dzeko is the favourite to replace Lukaku in Inter’s attack tomorrow.
