Not only McKennie, Juventus lose Chiesa for Monza, but Vlahovic and Pogba return

Weston McKennie won’t be the only Juventus absentee against Monza as Massimiliano Allegri reveals a minor injury for Federico Chiesa, but Dusan Vlahovic and Paul Pogba are back.

The Italian tactician confirmed at a press conference on Saturday that McKennie wouldn’t be available against Monza on Sunday, given that the Bianconeri have already reached an agreement with Premier League side Leeds United.

Chiesa is also going to miss the match due to a minor injury, Allegri revealed.

“Chiesa won’t be available because he’s dealing with flexor fatigue in the operated leg. It’s something normal and he will be back against Lazio on Thursday.”

The Italy international underwent knee surgery a year ago after sustaining a serious knee injury against Roma in January 2022. Two weeks ago, he scored his first goal in more than a year in a Coppa Italia clash against Monza in Turin.

Allegri will see Vlahovic and Pogba return tomorrow, with the France international who could make his season debut with the Bianconeri.

“Vlahovic and Pogba will be available, Cuadrado could be back against Lazio and Bonucci is still behind,” confirmed the Italian tactician.

Allegri also said that he recently met club owner John Elkann but denied they discussed a contract extension.

“I’ve spoken to John Elkann, but not about a contract extension. He only asked me how the team is doing. There are many things to do right now and we must remain focused on the pitch. We have four months remaining with several targets to reach.”

Juventus have been docked 15 points and are now 14 below a Champions League placement.

“I’ve asked the lads to go out on the pitch and win games,” said Allegri.

“We must do what we’ve been doing until now. The club is strong, we must earn as many points as possible. There are 19 games remaining and Monza is the first one, we must be careful because they are doing really well.”
