Kalulu ‘at ease’ in Milan centre-back role

Milan defender Pierre Kalulu is enjoying his versatility in defence, but insists they need to ‘do better upfront’ in the derby with Inter after their 0-0 draw with Juventus.

It was a clean sheet for the Rossoneri and in fact they didn’t face a single shot on target this evening at San Siro.

“It’s a positive statistic for everyone in the team and not just for us defenders,” Kalulu told Milan TV.

“We did well and must continue like this.”

He was originally signed as a right-back, but the 21-year-old can also play on the left and has recently been impressing in central defence to fill the gaps.

“If you play consistently, it does make it easier to perform better. I got along well with all my defensive partners and feel quite at ease in central defence.”

Milan’s next match is the Derby della Madonnina against leaders Inter, who are four points clear with a game in hand.

“It’s an important game for us and for the fans. Compared to tonight, we need to do better upfront if we are to bring home the three points.”
