Milan defender Pierre Kalulu is enjoying his versatility in defence, but insists they need to ‘do better upfront’ in the derby with Inter after their 0-0 draw with Juventus.

It was a clean sheet for the Rossoneri and in fact they didn’t face a single shot on target this evening at San Siro.

“It’s a positive statistic for everyone in the team and not just for us defenders,” Kalulu told Milan TV.

“We did well and must continue like this.”

He was originally signed as a right-back, but the 21-year-old can also play on the left and has recently been impressing in central defence to fill the gaps.

“If you play consistently, it does make it easier to perform better. I got along well with all my defensive partners and feel quite at ease in central defence.”

Milan’s next match is the Derby della Madonnina against leaders Inter, who are four points clear with a game in hand.

“It’s an important game for us and for the fans. Compared to tonight, we need to do better upfront if we are to bring home the three points.”

  1. If we sign another defender in this window then not only the management are blind to Kalulu’s great performances but also very stupid not to realize the real problem is in attack, where we can’t play the final ball and finish moves. A good attacking midfielder who can operate between the lines and actually play that crucial final ball (unlike Diaz) is what we need most, followed by a fit striker.

I love Pioli and Maldini and I applaud what they’ve done till now but I just can’t understand how they can not see this.
