Juventus transfer strategies explained: Djalo, Samardzic, Yildiz and more

Juventus have a principle of agreement with Lazar Samardzic but are in no hurry to sign the Serbia international, while Filippo Ranocchia’s sale to Palermo will allow the Bianconeri to get Tiago Djalo in the January transfer window.

Juventus have a reduced transfer budget available for the January transfer window, meaning Bianconeri supporters should not expect big signings in the winter transfer window.

However, the Serie A giants are on the verge of signing Tiago Djalo on a permanent €3.5m transfer from Lille. The Portuguese defender is expected to undergo his medical with the Bianconeri next week.

Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Marco Demicheli explained on Friday afternoon that Ranocchia’s sale to Serie B side Palermo would allow Juventus to afford the former Milan defender, who had also reached a principle of agreement with Inter ahead of a free summer transfer given that his contract with Lille expires at the end of the season. However, the Nerazzurri have decided against matching Juventus’ offer this month.

Ranocchia is currently on loan at Empoli but will join Palermo on a permanent €3m transfer this month. Other sources, including Matteo Moretto, report that Juventus do also have a 20% sell-on clause on Radu Dragusin’s sale.

While many expected Juventus to get midfielder reinforcements in January, the Bianconeri directors seem to be in no hurry to sign a new player in the middle of the park this month, despite the suspensions of Paul Pogba and Nicolò Fagioli.

Multiple sources say the Bianconeri have an agreement with Udinese star Samardzic ahead of a permanent transfer over the summer. Napoli are in the opposite situation as they’ve shaken hands with Udinese but have no agreement with the player’s entourage.

If Juventus do not complete a big sale in the January transfer window, they won’t get Samardzic in January. Football Italia understands Juventus would listen to offers for Matias Soulé and Samuel Iling-Junior, but their emerging starlet Kenan Yildiz is not on the market.

The 18-year-old striker has scored three goals in 11 appearances across all competitions this season and signed a contract extension until 2027 this past August.
