Real Madrid pull out race for Rudiger amid Juventus and Milan interest

According to Marca, Real Madrid are no longer in the running to sign Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, with Juventus and Milan still interested in the former Roma star.

Rudiger sees his current deal expire at the end of the season and has rejected Chelsea’s opening contract extension offer.

Real Madrid were believed to be in pole position to secure his signature on a free transfer at the end of the season, but according to Marca, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have retired from the race to sign the 28-year-old.

According to the report, Chelsea offered Rudiger €8m per season, but the former Roma man reportedly demanded a circa €11.5m per season.

Real Madrid will not offer as much and are happy with their starting centre-backs Eder Militao and David Alaba.

That’s why they are reportedly no longer interested in the Germany international.

Milan and Juventus are also monitoring Rudiger, but Football Italia understands the Serie A giants are also unwilling to meet his wage demands.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is Milan’s highest earner with a €7m-a-year salary, while Matthijs de Ligt gets €12m per season at Juve, including bonuses.

The Bianconeri are in talks to extend Paulo Dybala’s contract, but due to their poor financial situation, they are struggling to offer their star a €10m-a-year salary.
