Daniele De Rossi admits he’s a little taken aback by the Feyenoord changes, but Roma must have ‘courage’ and he really wishes he could be on the pitch in this Europa League play-off.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 20.00 GMT.

“We will have a similar approach to the first leg. We are changing a few of the players, but will try to press our opponents high up the pitch and score goals,” De Rossi told Sky Sport Italia.

There is definitely a change in the Feyenoord starting XI, as top scorer Santiago Gimenez was only fit enough to be a substitute in Rotterdam.

“Some things do change, also with Nieuwkoop who was a full-back. We’ll see how they are set out, but above all Gimenez changes the quality of the side.”

While Jose Mourinho repeatedly complained his squad was limited, De Rossi has a very different view of the situation, especially now Tammy Abraham is the only real absentee.

“With everyone at my disposal, I cannot complain. It’s disappointing that Bove is suspended, but I have plenty of alternatives to choose from.”

The Stadio Olimpico is sold out and Feyenoord traditionally have a poor away record in Europe, losing all three games in the Champions League group stage this season.

“If we don’t have courage tonight with a packed stadium behind us, then we’ve done something wrong in our line of work,” warned the former midfielder and captain.

“This is one of those games it really annoys me not to be able to play in. It will be fun to watch it from a different viewpoint, though.”
