Belotti renewal ‘not a priority’

Palermo forward Andrea Belotti’s agent warns that renewing the Italian under-21 international’s contract is ‘not a priority’.

The 21-year-old has four goals in six starts in Serie A this season, and 8 goals in 13 Azzurrini caps,  form which has seen him linked with the likes of Roma, and the player’s agent admits that he sees his client’s future at a bigger club.

“Roma are always Roma,” Sergio Lancini told Radio AperiSport.

“Roma are always Roma,” Sergio Lancini told Radio AperiSport.

“But in Italy there are so many big clubs like Juventus, Inter and Milan. At the moment we’re focused on Palermo and doing as well as possible.

“We hope to get into the Europa League. Andrea must only think about doing what he does best – scoring goals.

“We hope he can play more often so that he can regularly find ways to score.

“A contract renewal? We’ve talked about it, but it’s not a priority.

“At the moment the priority is for him to play more regularly, to get ready for his meet-up with the [under-21] national team [at the European under-21 Championships in the Czech Republic].

“To get there without a lot of goals wouldn’t be good. He needs to arrive at his best, because the teams participating have great depth. His physical condition needs to be 110 per cent.

“To give his best at the European Championships he needs to do well for his club.”
