Bayern ‘in a good position’ to sign De Ligt from Juventus

Hasan Salihamidzic says Bayern Munich are in a ‘good position’ to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus, but admits the Bavarians must ‘have patience.’

De Ligt has agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga giants who saw an opening €60m bid rejected by Juventus earlier this week.

Former Bianconeri winger Salihamidzic met the Old Lady directors on Monday and told reporters, including Football Italia, that he was ‘optimistic’ about a positive end of negotiations with the Old Lady.

The former winger provided more updates in his latest interview with Bild.

“It was important to me to sit down with Maurizio Arrivabene, Federico Cherubini and Pavel Nedved,” he said.

“I was there [at Juventus] as a player for four years and have a good relationship with the club. We’ve spoken twice, now we have to be patient and see what happens.”

De Ligt joined Juventus from Ajax in an €85.5m bid in the summer of 2019. He has a €120m clause included in his contract, which runs out in 2024.

However, Juventus are open to selling their star defender for €90-100m but are ready to keep their star defender if they don’t receive a suitable offer.

“I think we’re in a good position at the moment because we’ve already done a few things,” continued Salihamidzic.

“That makes it easier on the transfer market. We’ll keep our eyes and ears open, see what’s happening on the transfer market and do what’s best for Bayern.”

De Ligt has played 117 games at the Allianz Stadium, scoring eight goals.
