Roma forward Tammy Abraham said the addition of Paulo Dybala means the Giallorossi can make a challenge for the title.
It has been 21 years since they last won Serie A and, despite winning the Europa Conference League last season, they finished sixth in the league – 23 points behind winners Milan.
Asked whether he felt a title challenge was on the cards, Abraham told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to win the Scudetto.
“We all want to win it but we need to show our value. We have a great team, a great club and a great manager. The sky is the limit.”
Roma have improved significantly this summer with Nemanja Matić and Paulo Dybala joining on a free among others, while there are also rumours Georginio Wijnaldum could be added.
Asked how it feels to play along Dybala, the England forward added: “I think it’s a privilege to have added a player that good to our team. It means a lot to the fans, who have received him very well.
“The messages appears clear to me: the club is creating a great project and the results are clear.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea could activate a buy-back clause in Abraham’s contract of €80 million.
Asked whether that is playing on his mind, he said: “I am only thinking about the present. I am focused on next season because I want it to be better than last season.”
Abraham joined Roma from Chelsea last season and enjoyed a positive debut campaign with 27 goals in all competitions – including the Europa Conference League semi-final winner over Leicester City.
