Zdenek Zeman prepares for tomorrow night’s showdown with Napoli and hopes to ride the wave of enthusiasm, although “Roma have to improve.”

The Giallorossi ended 2013 with a 4-2 victory over Milan, meaning they’ve won six of their last seven games.

“Everyone is in decent shape and nobody complained about jet-lag,” said the Coach after a winter training camp stint in Florida.

Francesco Totti and Pablo Osvaldo are not 100 per cent fit, but they are in the squad. It was good for the team to have regular contact with the club owners in America. Now they know there is a real club behind them.”

Roma go head-to-head with Napoli on Sunday evening and Zeman faces his former Pescara starlet Lorenzo Insigne.

“Insigne is my pupil. He scored 50 goals with me and I am happy he is making his mark at Napoli. The whole team is proving to be an important one and they will strengthen further on the transfer market in January.

“Will Roma be making changes mid-season? I consider this to be a good squad, though it’s only normal that up until January 31 there will be many names bandied about. Some of the stories will be true, others false.

“I am happy to know my players are wanted by other clubs, as it means they are doing well. Who did I request? Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi,” joked Zeman.

“It is good to know we have enthusiasm around the side. It’s always better than depression, after all. The table says we could’ve done more and will try to be better.

“We are a good side, but have to prove it in the second half of the season.”
