Zaniolo central to Mourinho’s Roma despite Dybala arrival – report

Nicolò Zaniolo is still a core part of Jose Mourinho’s Roma project and he’ll reportedly be tied down to a new contract soon.

The future of the 23-year-old Italian forward has seemed a little uncertain for a while now, with aa departure looking possible at certain points of this transfer window before the clouds finally started to lift over the Italian capital. The Friedkins are now working on renewing his contract in Rome and both parties are feeling positive.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Zaniolo is still a core part of the Roma squad and he’s expected to play a leading role next season alongside Tammy Abraham and Dybala. The new contract will see his salary rise from around €2.5m net per season to €4m net.

The Giallorossi are hoping to challenge for a top four finish next season and could even put up a strong fight in the Europa League following the arrival of Dybala.
