Why Juventus will struggle to offload Ramsey and Arthur

Aaron Ramsey and Arthur are not in Massimiliano Allegri’s plans at Juventus, but the Serie A giants will struggle to offload them for economic reasons.

Ramsey, 30, has played just 112 minutes across five games in all competitions this season, while Arthur struggled with playing times since his return from an injury.

The former Barcelona midfielder has only played 166 minutes (seven appearances) and spent the last four Serie A games on the bench.

Juventus are planning to sell both of them in January, but it will be a tough task for different reasons.

Ramsey is on a €7m-a-year deal until June 2023 and Football Italia understands he is not willing to end his contract by mutual agreement in January. Therefore, Juventus must find suitors willing to sign the Welshman offering him a similar salary.

Arthur doesn’t get as much as Ramsey, but Juventus need at least €50m from his sale to avoid a capital loss.

The Brazilian joined Juventus in a swap deal with Miralem Pjanic in 2020, but his transfer value registered in the balance sheet was €76m, so his amortized value in January will be around €50m.

Juventus have put many other players in the market, including Dejan Kulusevski, Weston McKennie and Federico Bernardeschi.

The Italian’s contract expires at the end of the season, so January will be Juventus’ last chance to get money from his sale if they fail to reach an agreement to extend his stay at the club.
