Four Next Gen players Juventus have selected for pre-season tour

Massimiliano Allegri has decided to name four Next Gen players among the travelling squad for Juventus’ pre-season tour of the United States.

The Bianconeri players boarded a plane headed for the States on Friday morning, where they will take part in friendlies against Barcelona, Milan and Real Madrid over the course of the next two weeks as part of the ‘Soccer Champions Tour’.

Among the high-profile names of Paul Pogba, Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa, there was also space for Allegri to include four youngsters in his squad, who could be given opportunities to impress the coach before the start of the 2023-24 season.

Those players are Giovanni Daffara, Dean Huijsen, Joseph Nonge Boende and Kenan Yildiz all of whom are currently aged 18.

Daffara will train with senior goalkeepers Wojciech Szczesny, Mattia Perin and Carlo Pinsoglio.

Huijsen, the son of former AZ Alkmaar striker Donny, is a towering defender and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, has all the characteristics required to become a ‘classic’ centre-half.

Nonge, a central midfielder by trade, has already been handed an opportunity in a previous friendly for Juve, setting up a goal in a 2-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates during the break for the World Cup in Qatar.

Yildiz is perhaps the hottest prospect of the group. He arrived on a free transfer form Bayern Munich at the beginning of last season and already has reported interest from a number of teams in Turkey.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Yildiz is hoping to break into the Juve first-team by the mid-way point of the 2023-24 season.

The Bianconeri will take part in their first friendly of the tour against Xavi’s Barca in San Francisco on Saturday evening local time. For those watching from Europe, kick off is set for 3.30 GMT on Sunday morning.
