When will Buffon retire?

Gigi Buffon’s agent Silvano Martina says the legendary goalkeeper will surely continue for one more season if Parma get Serie A promotion.

The soon-to-be 45-year-old played his 50th game at San Siro on Tuesday, in Parma’s 2-1 loss against Inter in the Coppa Italia Round of 16.

His agent Silvano Martina discussed his future in an interview with Tuttosport.

“He has two years left in his contract, but we’ll talk at the end of the season and Gigi will be free to make the best decision for himself.

“Surely, he still feels competitive. To me, if Parma get promoted, he will surely continue. If not, he could still continue, but only if he is sure to be at the top. Serie B is a very difficult league and what Parma did the other night against Inter proves it.”

Buffon took to social media after Tuesday’s match against Inter, celebrating his 50th appearance at San Siro, writing: ’50 times at San Siro…for now!’

Thanks to his 657 games, 168 with Parma and 489 with Juventus, Buffon is the player with the most appearances in Serie A.

He made his debut in Italy’s top flight on November 19, 1995, in a 0-0 draw against Milan.

The 2006 Italy World Cup winner has played seven games across all competitions this season, conceding seven goals.
