Vialli: ‘Sell Silva, Kalinic, sign Belotti’

Gianluca Vialli says Milan should have spent more to sign Andrea Belotti last summer rather than bring in both Andre Silva and Nikola Kalinic.

Portuguese Silva and Croatian Kalinic have both struggled for form and goals for the Rossoneri this season, with the duo’s long-term future at the San Siro now in doubt.

Speaking after Rino Gattuso’s team were embarrassed at home by Serie A’s bottom club Benevento yesterday, the former Juventus and Chelsea forward added that Silva and Kalinic’s worth may even have decreased this campaign.

“If I were a director at Milan, I would have saved the money I spent on Andre Silva and Kalinic and signed someone like Belotti,” Vialli told Sky Sport 24.

“The problem now is how much are they worth? Have they decreased in value?

“In my opinion, Milan need to bring in a forward, a midfielder and a full-back.”

Vialli's comments about Kalinic and Silva were seemingly echoed by Gattuso himself, who complained of their wastefulness in the defeat to Roberto De Zerbi's Serie B bound team.

"We had 21 shots on goal, the problem is how we attack. I cannot see my forwards who four or five times attempt something acrobatic and foul their opponents," the Rossoneri boss commented.

"Andre Silva was caught offside twice in situations that were really easy to read. They are young and can have these moments.

"I saw movements from my forwards that we had never practiced in training before."

Yesterday's loss to Benevento means the Rossoneri have now failed to win in their last six Serie A matches.
