Totti waits for Roma decision

A final decision on Francesco Totti’s Roma contract is reportedly expected in the coming days.

The Giallorossi captain is out of contract at the end of the season, and it’s not clear if the club will offer the 39-year-old an extension.

It was reported this week that President James Pallotta had experience a change of heart, and that Er Pupone will be given a one-year extension.

According to La Repubblica, Totti will not wait until the end of the season to decide his future, so wants an answer one way or the other.

According to La Repubblica, Totti will not wait until the end of the season to decide his future, so wants an answer one way or the other.

Director general Mauro Baldissoni was at Trigoria this morning, having flown back from the United States, and it’s thought that the signs are positive for a renewal.

A one-year extension would be beneficial for both parties, as the club could enter into lucrative sponsorship deals based around Totti’s final season.

One example of the enduring love for the captain is the ticket sales for what may be his final match for the club.

Over 15,000 tickets have already been sold for the match against Chievo on May 8, despite it not being clear if the game will be his last home game in the Roma shirt.

There are also 24,500 season ticket holders who are expected to be in attendance, plus the 6,000 in the Curva Sud who have been boycotting this season over segregation.

However, it’s thought the Ultras would break their boycott if it’s confirmed that the match will be Totti’s last at the Olimpico.

That takes ticket sales to over 40,000 with over a week to go until the match, which would be the third-biggest Serie A attendance of the season, after the matches against Juventus and Inter.
