Tottenham to sign Udogie from Udinese next week

Sky Sport Italia are confident Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur will strike a deal with Udinese for Destiny Udogie worth €26m, leaving the Italy Under-21 international on loan in Serie A.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, negotiations are progressing rapidly and should reach a conclusion early next week.

As a sign that perhaps something was moving, Udogie was not even on the bench for the first official Udinese match of the season, today’s 2-1 Coppa Italia victory over Feralpisalò.

The details of the transfer are reportedly a €20m fee, plus €6m in various add-ons.

Udogie will remain at Udinese on loan for the 2022-23 campaign, meaning he can play the opening Serie A match against Milan next weekend.

Still only 19 years of age, the left-back and left-sided wing-back was also linked with Lazio, Inter and Juventus, but none of them could compete with Tottenham when the asking price was €25m.

Last season he scored five goals and provided three assists in 35 Serie A games for Udinese, turning the loan move from Hellas Verona to a permanent one at a cost of €4m.
