Kessié in advanced talks with Tottenham as Spurs lead race to sign Milan star

Franck Kessié is unlikely to sign a contract extension with Milan and according to reports in England, Antonio Conte’s Tottenham are in pole position to secure his services at the end of the season.

Kessié’s current deal at San Siro runs out in June 2022 and the Ivorian star is unwilling to sign a contract extension with the Serie A giants.

Milan have offered him a new €6.5m-a-year deal, but the player demands a new contract in the region of €8-9m per season.

According to The Express, Tottenham are leading the race to sign the former Atalanta man as a free agent.

Arsenal and PSG have also been linked with securing the player’s services.

Conte has made Kessié one of Spurs’ priority targets for the summer and Tottenham director Fabio Paratici is already in talks with the player’s representative.

Conte refused to provide an update on January transfer negotiations during one of his latest press conferences.

“Honestly, at this moment, I cannot answer that,” he said.

“Now, my focus is to work with the players to improve the situation. Then for sure, we will have a meeting with the club to try to understand if there is the possibility to improve the situation in terms of transfers.”
