Sport claims Barcelona have special De Ligt clause deal

Spanish newspaper Sport claims agent Mino Raiola agreed a discount to €75m should Matthijs de Ligt leave Juventus for Barcelona, whereas the clause is €120m for any other club.

It comes after Raiola told Dutch media that both he and the defender believed it was time he took a ‘new step’ in his career beyond the Bianconeri.

They signed De Ligt from Ajax for €85.5m in the summer of 2019 and his contract runs to June 2024.

Juventus sacrifice De Ligt for Vlahovic, Pogba and Romagnoli?

According to Catalan paper Sport, Raiola negotiated a special agreement with Barcelona when he was completing the original transfer to Juventus.

That is a letter confirming Barcelona can activate a release clause in his contract worth €75m, whereas the clause would be €120m for any other club wishing to buy him out of his deal early.

Chelsea would be the current favourites to snap up De Ligt, especially as they are set to lose Antonio Rudiger as a free agent this summer and need reinforcements in defence.

They face competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
