Skriniar: ‘Inter still enjoyed win even when not playing well’

Milan Skriniar admits Inter didn’t put in their most beautiful performance against Juventus, but ‘it’s still a great feeling to win even when you don’t play that well.’

It was a fiery Derby d’Italia in Turin, decided by a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty in first half stoppages.

Wojciech Szczesny had originally parried, but it was retaken due to encroachment and the Turkey international converted at the second time of asking.

Denis Zakaria saw the best chance at an equaliser fingertipped onto the upright by Samir Handanovic.

“The points are precious, we knew how important this game was, the opponent we were facing. I am really proud of my team, we fought to the final minute and this was the result,” the centre-back told DAZN.

“We really needed this victory, we sacrificed ourselves and it gives us a great boost for the upcoming games.

“It’s possible we are lacking sharpness compared to the start of the season, but it’s important and still a great feeling to win even when you don’t play that well.

“We knew how crucial this result was, as now everything remains wide open.”
